CERTIFICATE RESIDENCY
Join us for a week of study and retreat June 26 Đ July 1, 2006 at Shalom Hill Farm in Windom, Minnesota. The residency courses can be taken for the joy of learning, for continuing education, for lay ministry certification, as part of the CenterŐs Certificate in Town & Country Church Leadership, or to fulfill requirements in WartburgŐs TEEM certification program.

The courses being offered are:

The LordŐs Harvest: Outreach and Stewardship in a Rural Context
Instructor: Dr. Mark Yackel-Juleen Course

Description: Participants will explore cultural dynamics and contextual realities that impact how outreach and stewardship is practiced in a rural setting. Questions that might be explored include: What are some of the barriers that interfere with a congregationŐs willingness to reach out? What are some of the systems in place in a rural community that can assist in developing an understanding and practice of stewardship? We will also discuss actual strategies that have worked to enhance outreach and stewardship in rural congregations such as strategic programming as an evangelism tool, and unique worship opportunities to lift up both evangelism and stewardship.

Fundamentals of Christian Theology and GodŐs Mission in the 21st Century
Instructor: Dr. Winston Persaud Course

Description: In this course we will focus on the fundamentals of Christian theology. We will attend to the basic question of how the Church might faithfully respond to the call to bear witness to Jesus Christ. We will consider the context of GodŐs mission in the twenty-first-century world of religious and non-religious diversity. The course will be structured around the meaning of the Nicene Creed for today. Students will be invited to share in both oral and written forms what is at the heart of the Christian faith as they understand it, how they do theology, and what are their sources and influences. We will work at cultivating an atmosphere in the classroom of mutual respect and learning. This will be a course that takes seriously meeting people where they are.
